Jack C. Miller, CPA testifies as an expert witness
in defense of Dunkin Donuts franchise owners.
CORAL SPRINGS, FL - Jack C. Miller, of Miller & Mosier LLC, was called to be an expert witness before a federal jury in defense of several Florida Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owners brought on by Dunkin’ Donuts of America, the franchisor.
In 2000, Dunkin’ Donuts sued three Florida franchise holders in U.S. District Court in Boston, claiming they violated their franchise agreements, accusing the owners of underreporting revenues and tax fraud. By the time the suit came to trial in late 2003, Dunkin Donuts had dropped all allegations except those involving tax fraud.
Miller worked with the attorneys and defendants for over a year, preparing expert reports.
For nearly three weeks, the federal jury heard testimony, including that of Miller, who testified as an expert witness on behalf of the defense.
The jury sided with the defendants, and seven jurors voted not guilty on six counts.
